Instrumentation Technician

Our client is a well-established mining operation in the Sudbury region, recognized for its commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Due to ongoing operational requirements, they are seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join their underground maintenance team.

Your New Role

As an Instrumentation Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the reliability of production equipment through the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and control systems. Working primarily in an underground mining environment, you will support both scheduled maintenance activities and emergency repairs to minimize operational downtime.

Key responsibilities include:

• Safely install, test, commission, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation and control equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities in accordance with production schedules.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment failures and instrumentation-related issues to reduce operational disruptions.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, technical drawings, and OEM manuals.
• Conduct inspections and ensure all equipment operates within established standards.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and callouts as required.
• Complete documentation and report deviations from established procedures.
• Maintain compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Work hands-on with tools and equipment in an underground mining environment where physical labour is required.

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Trade Certification as an Instrumentation and Control Technician (Red Seal 447A) or a College Diploma/Technology Diploma in Instrumentation.
• Minimum post-secondary education from a recognized community college.
• 2–4 years of experience in instrumentation, controls, maintenance, or industrial operations.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities related to instrumentation and control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Solid understanding of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other applicable legislation.
• Commitment to safe work practices and working effectively within a team environment.
• Previous mining, industrial, or heavy industry experience is considered an asset.
