Are you passionate about empowering Indigenous students and fostering strong community connections? Reporting to the Manager, Student Recruitment & Marketing, the primary responsibility of the Indigenous Student Recruiter is to recruit prospective Indigenous students to the University of Regina. Within a framework that prioritizes liaising with Indigenous communities and stakeholders, this position also works with campus partners, high schools, Indigenous communities, post-secondary coordinators and other members of the Student Recruitment team to encourage prospective Indigenous students and their families to apply to the University of Regina. This individual will act as the primary contact and resource for prospective Indigenous students and others involved in the recruitment of Indigenous students. The incumbent will participate in student recruitment activities on and off campus to increase Indigenous student applications to the University of Regina. What You'll Do: - Extensive travel to events in and out of province to promote the University of Regina and recruit Indigenous students to the University of Regina through a broad range of activities including in-school presentations, attending education and career fairs, SUTIL events, school/community events, advising session with students and parents, counsellor workshops and other prospective student events.
- Participate in virtual recruitment efforts including online events, presentations, workshops, student appointments, and other prospective student support.
- Prepare and maintain extensive recruitment records of external and prospective Indigenous student contacts.
- Conduct research on Indigenous recruitment trends and best practices - including changes in post-secondary education, support services, demographics, success rates, etc.
- Provide reports on various recruitment initiatives.
- Communicate extensively and develop relationships with prospective Indigenous students, families, schools, post-secondary coordinators, Indigenous advocates, and counsellors utilizing email, phone, online chats, mail and fax methods of communication.
- Draft correspondence (electronic and paper) for prospective Indigenous students.
- Assist in the development of Indigenous recruitment materials for the University of Regina. This includes print publications, online communications, presentations, information packages, etc.).
- Communicate frequently with prospective students (via email and calling campaigns) and enter prospect data into the university systems.
- Conduct on-campus advising appointments with students.
- Assist in the development of relationships with key stakeholders within and outside the University - including developing a close working relationship with the ta-tawâw Student Centre, First Nations University of Canada, and other Indigenous post-secondary partners, such as SIIT, SUNTEP, etc.
- Assist with on-campus recruitment events such as campus tours, conferences and school group tours - with a special focus on activities developed for Indigenous students and community-based events.

Position Requirements What You'll Bring to this Position: - Undergraduate degree;
- Minimum of one year experience related to the duties outlined;
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role: - Knowledge of University admission requirements, programs, services and general university structure with an understanding of the admission and application process for all programs, as well as knowledge of recruitment and marketing practices in Canada;
- Familiar with Indigenous knowledge and traditions;
- Experience with and knowledge of Indigenous recruitment practices is preferred;
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as excellent interpersonal skills;
- Understanding of respectful practices and protocols when working with Elders and Indigenous communities;
- Lived knowledge of the kinds of experiences Indigenous students have choosing and entering post-secondary education;
- Excellent presentation skills with the demonstrated ability to present to both large and small groups;
- Demonstrates ability to build and develop relationships with Indigenous students and Indigenous communities and leaders;
- Demonstrates the values of the University while working in an independent setting;
- Excellent time management skills;
- Demonstrated strong computer skills are required (advanced experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom Video Conferencing);
- Direct experience working with complex database systems such as: Banner, UR Docs, EZ Recruit is an asset;
- Ability to handle multiple problems, prioritize and organize competing demands;
- Capable of making independent decisions and exercising mature judgment/initiative in handling work assignments;
- Able to carry, lift and set up small and large display units, audio-visual equipment and deliver boxes of promotional material;
- Must have a valid driver's license;
- Extensive travel within Canada is required;
- Must self-identify as belonging to an equity-deserving group, specifically Indigenous peoples.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift heavy boxes.
Pay Grade APT 3 Salary Range $60,280 - $81,376 Annually Status Permanent Work Hours
Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM; however, frequent irregular work hours are required in this position, including evening and weekend hours. Regular travel is required.
