Laundry Attendant | Part-time | Westley Calgary

As a Tapestry Collection Hotel by Hilton, The Westley Calgary Downtown Hotel is Calgary’s newest boutique hotel with a modern take on Calgary’s wild west roots and we are currently looking for dynamic people to join our team! 

The Westley Calgary Downtown has an existing vacancy for a Laundry Attendant . This position is responsible for providing clean linens and towels to the Housekeeping Department, which ensures an exceptional guest experience from the moment they arrive to their room.  The position is also responsible for folding linens as well as ensuring the on-going working order of the laundry machines.  The Laundry Attendant must be the kind of person who appreciates high standards of excellence!

Reporting to the Executive Houseperson, you will:

• In the pre-opening stages of the hotel, work closely with the Executive Housekeeper to ensure the linen inventory is cleaned, folded, and stocked according to Hotel standards;
• On a daily basis, inspect all linen to ensure there is enough clean linen to service the Hotel. Moving linen in/out of machines, folding and maintaining inventory are the key responsibilities of the role;
• Oversee and manage the Uniform cleaning process for the Hotel, which contributes to a well presented team and a positive guest experience;
• Manage the inventory of clean linen using the Hotel’s industrial laundry equipment;
• Assist Guest Room Attendants with cleaning guest rooms, when needed to meet the needs of the operation;
• Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and use correct lifting procedures, as necessary to avoid injury;
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

• Work varying shifts (mornings, afternoons, evenings, some overnights, weekends and holidays);
• Move, lift, carry, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 55 pounds without assistance and in excess of 55 pounds with assistance;
• Ability to push and pull a loaded housekeeping cart and other work-related machinery over sloping and uneven surfaces;
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping;
• Stand, sit, kneel, or walk for an extended period across an entire work shift;
• Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination;
• Visually verify and interpret written documents;
• Move at a speed that is required to respond to work situations (e.g., run, walk, jog);
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects);
• Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces;
• Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and steps;
• Move up and down stairs and/or service ramps;
• Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.

• High school diploma/G.E.D. equivalent;
• At least 1 year of guest service and/or housekeeping experience. Experience working in Laundry is a definite asset;
• Experience using industrial cleaning equipment and products;
• Brings an appreciation for high standards of excellence, everyday;
• Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with other departments, guests, and vendors.
• Ability to work with little or no supervision while meeting high-performance standards;
• Organized and proven experience prioritizing tasks;
• Ability to follow instruction;
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment-maintaining composure and objectivity with guests and team members;
• Available to work nights, weekends and/or holidays as required, including occasional Manager-On-Duty shifts.
