Position: Full-Time Healthcare Security Guard  

Site: 1831 Oxford Ave, Brockville, The Royal Brockville, Formally known as Brockville Mental Health Hospital 

Hours: 07:00 - 19:00/19:00 - 07:00 (Continental) 

Payrate: $19.50/hour

Site Description:  The Royal Brockville - Formally known as Brockville Mental Health Hospital is a specialized mental health hospital that forms part of The Royal, one of Eastern Ontario’s leading mental health organizations. As a branch of the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group, the Brockville site provides clinically intensive, secure, and community-based mental health services supporting individuals with complex and persistent mental illness

Successful applicants must be able to reliably commute to Kingston, Ontario for in-person Use of Force and Management of Aggressive Behaviour training. 

Job Description:

• Conduct proactive and reactive interior and exterior security patrols, including in inclement weather
• Respond to incidents, remain calm in emergencies, and use effective conflict management and verbal de-escalation techniques 
• Investigate routine incidents and complete clear, accurate incident and end-of-shift reports 
• Enforce parking, smoking, site by-laws, and all client and Paladin policies and procedures
• Liaise with Paladin management and on-site staff to meet operational requirements
• Operate independently and as part of a team to complete assigned duties
• Sit or stand for up to 12 hours per shift
• Participate in ongoing training and development as directed
• Additional Duties as Assigned

Qualifications 

• Authorized to legally work in Canada
• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C (WSIB-approved)
• Ability to be clean-shaven for N95 mask fit testing
• Proof of at least two COVID-19 vaccinations
• A copy of your immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Hepatitis B and TB Skin Tests Step 1 & 2):
• Immunization Form: Immunization-Record-Ontario-Paladin.pdf
• Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check (onboarding)
• Fluent in English (verbal/written)
• Able to perform physically demanding duties (patrols, restraints, etc.)
• 6+ months security experience preferred
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability
