Senior Scientist – Molecular Biology
Charlottetown, PEI | Salary: 60-95K depending on experience and qualifications
Job Description
The senior scientist will support the development of new vaccines and biotherapeutics. Responsibilities include:
- Develop new DNA vaccine constructs:
- Design DNA sequences for cloning
- Molecular cloning of constructs
- Modification of bacterial genomes
- Purify and analyze DNA constructs
- Maintain accurate records of experiments
- Analyze data
- Work independently
- Create in silico constructs
- Clone using restriction enzyme protocols, Gibson assembly, and Golden Gate cloning
- Create and validate primer sets
- Understand molecular biology background to optimize protocols and develop novel sequences
- Prepare SOPs, validation protocols and reports
- Prepare/present project updates as required
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Relevant M.Sc. or Ph.D. with 3–5 years experience
- Experience with molecular cloning
- Experience working with minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented and organizational skills
- Experience working in vaccine development considered an asset
- Proven track record of innovation
