- A Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Environmental Design, or related discipline with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a related field.
- Membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), the Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI) or the Alberta Development Officers’ Association is considered an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of development permit applications, land use planning practices and the demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate complex challenges to form effective decisions.
- Knowledge related to Land Use Bylaw applicable sections of the Municipal Government Act, and an understanding of the development permitting process.
- Strong customer service skills with demonstrated ability to respond to and anticipate customer needs professionally.
- Strong conflict resolution, active listening, and communication skills.
- Possess the skills to effectively balance competing and conflicting interests, application deadlines and work tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
