In this role, you may be called upon to do on-call delivery agent OR on-call postal clerk work: 

\n •    On-call delivery agent (also known as a letter carrier). You’ll be the face of Canada Post in your community and make sure customers and businesses get the mail and parcels they’re waiting for.

\n •    On-call postal clerk- you will have the opportunity to work various shifts, including days, evenings, overnights and weekends. This temporary on-call position is an excellent opportunity to learn about the business of mail operations, as well as the great jobs available at Canada Post.

\n Job Responsibilities \n

\n

As a Delivery Agent-What will you do?

\n •    You’ll start your day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries

\n •    You’ll load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle

\n •    You’ll then spend most of your day outside, delivering mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers on your route

\n •    You’ll return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery

As a Postal Clerk-What will you do?

\n •    You’ll work inside a sorting facility, sorting mail and packages

\n •    Work various shifts (may include evenings/nights and weekends)

\n •    Operation of material handling equipment 

\n •    Receiving and accepting mail items

\n •    Sort, scan and sequence and batch mail items

\n •    Transfers and dispatching of parcels and packets

\n •    Perform other postal clerk duties as required 

\n •    Completes reports and documentation

\n

\n Qualifications \n

\n

What must you have?

\n •    A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required)

\n •    The physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day

\n •    The ability to work in all types of weather

\n •    The availability to be on-call, possibly evenings and weekends 

\n •    The ability to read, write and speak English and/or French

\n •    Experience making deliveries or working as a driver

\n •    Experience working in a production environment is an asset
