• Read staff policy and procedure handbook and sign that you understand its context
• Fill out required forms to be kept in your personnel file
• Must have a Alberta certified Food Handling Certificate
• Must have Alberta Level 1 Certification

Job Responsibilities / Duties

• Prepare weekly menus
• Work with Administration Team for approval
• Prepare breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks for all classrooms
• Serve meals to each classroom on time, at the appropriate temperature
• Work with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation of each meal
• Prepare appropriate amounts of food for each classroom, with amounts served meeting Alberta guidelines
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including all food storage areas
• Make sure all thermometers are working properly
• Ensure all food items are checked for expiration dates
• Wash and sanitize all dishes
• Clean the entire kitchen and appliances throughout the day
• Remove trash and recyclables daily
• Organize and put away all groceries, food orders and non-food items
• Supervise and engage with children in daily activities to promote their physical, emotional, and social development.

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Daycare professional to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children. You will play a crucial role in their development through structured activities, meals, and supervision. The ideal candidate will have experience in food service and a passion for working with children.

Skills

• Strong background in food service, including knowledge of food safety practices.
• Experience in meal preparation and cooking for large groups.
• Familiarity with food handling procedures within a daycare or restaurant setting.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with children, parents, and staff effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
• Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children are essential qualities.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 - 32 per week
