Auxiliary Whitehorse Information Officer

Reporting to the Executive Manager, this position is responsible for being the representative of the Teslin Tlingit Council (TTC) in Whitehorse, providing a welcoming environment and informed presence for all visitors to the TTC offices.

Education & Experience

• Post secondary completion of education relating to Office Administration / Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of the Teslin Clan system, TTC Government structure, including the TTC Constitution, Strategic Plan, Final and Self Government Agreements, and Implementation Plans
• Knowledge of the Teslin Tlingit Council’s history, culture, demographics, goals and aspirations
• Knowledge of Teslin Tlingit Council policies and procedures and services
• Experience using office equipment, computers, and multi line telephones

Main Duties

• Providing reception, answering the telephone and directing inquiries within TTC
• Maintaining & cleaning the office space and meeting facilities in a professional, clean and safe manner
• Preparing and scheduling the use of the Boardroom; including attending at the office when meetings are scheduled after hours to ensure attendees have access to equipment and amenities
• Assisting TTC Citizens with the completion of forms and applications required to access services
• Assisting with the revision or development of resumes and cover letters for TTC Citizens

Conditions of Employment

• Mandatory confidentiality is a condition of employment for all Teslin Tlingit Council personnel
• Must have experience working with Yukon First Nations
• The nature of the position is such that the incumbent will be required to work evenings and weekends when the situation dictates
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License
