About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, punctual, and reliable Sheetmetal Foreman to lead fabrication and welding operations in our shop. In this role, you will lead hands-on production and guide team members through custom sheet metal projects primarily serving the commercial food service industry and mobile catering trucks/food trailers.
The ideal candidate brings strong craftsmanship in layout, forming, and sanitary-grade TIG/MIG welding (especially with stainless steel and aluminum), paired with the leadership skills needed to keep projects running efficiently, accurately, and on schedule.
- Schedule: Full-Time | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Environment: Workshop / Fabrication Facility
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Fabrication Operations: Direct daily workshop workflow, assign tasks to crew members, and actively fabricate custom components from raw sheet metal to final assembly.
- Welding & Finishing: Perform high-quality TIG and MIG welding on sheet metal assemblies (predominantly stainless steel and aluminum), ensuring clean, sanitary welds suitable for food service environments.
- Catering Truck & Food Service Projects: Fabricate, modify, and install custom equipment, prep tables, exhaust hoods, wall paneling, service counters, and storage solutions tailored to commercial food trucks and kitchens.
- Blueprint & Layout Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, shop prints, and project specifications to lay out, shear, bend, punch, and form parts with precision.
- Quality Assurance & Safety: Inspect finished components to ensure structural integrity and compliance with health and food safety standards; enforce workshop safety standards and proper equipment operation.
- Punctuality & Reliability: Maintain consistent, on-time attendance for the 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM shift to keep scheduled builds and deliveries on track.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on sheet metal fabrication experience.
- Welding Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in welding thin-gauge sheet metal (TIG/MIG), with an emphasis on stainless steel and aluminum.
- Industry Focus: Direct experience fabricating equipment for the food and beverage industry, commercial kitchens, or mobile catering/food trucks.
- Reliability: Proven track record of dependable, punctual attendance.
- Shop Skills: Competence operating standard sheet metal machinery (press brakes, shears, rollers, notchers, and hand tools).
Preferred
- Advanced Experience: 7+ years of experience in custom sheet metal fabrication, layout, and welding.
- Leadership Background: Prior supervisory, lead, or foreman experience managing shop workflow and mentoring junior fabricators.
- Sanitary Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with NSF/health department design requirements for commercial food preparation environments.
