Account Representative I (Events - Canada)

Brief Description

The Account Representative will be responsible for prospecting, qualifying and generating new sales leads to support SME’s portfolio of events. This individual will be a highly motivated, self-starter able to identify and develop new customer prospects from multiple sources including prospect lists, attending industry events, discovery and individual research.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS

• Prospect and call-on targeted lists of companies to promote an interest in SME Events.
• Heavy daily call volume and reporting
• Calling Contacts in the Manufacturing Industry nationwide
• Research and identify new prospect opportunities through the use of technology tools, social media, newsfeeds and other methods.
• Research and identify key contacts within new accounts.
• Effectively deliver guided messaging through cold-calling and call-response that identifies eligible prospects.
• Qualify and properly hand-off leads to appropriate sales team member.
• Traveling to competitive events to prospect for new leads as assigned (up to 20% per year)
• Help ensure our data within SF.com is up to date for marketing and sales
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree or equivalent related professional experience preferred.
• At least one-year related work experience
• Previous experience with customer service, sales, or other related fields.
• Self-motivated, competitive and highly driven to exceed set goals
• Ability to think strategically to identify, generate, nurture and qualify leads to turn them into sales ready opportunities.
• Must be motivated by cold calling, asking probing questions and gathering information
• Aptitude for overcoming objections and effectively communicating value propositions to key decision makers and influencers
• Strong acumen for setting meetings for sales teams in a variety of territories

• Normal office environment
• Primary office location: Markham, ON
• Regular, in-person attendance required
• Travel required (25% - 50%)

The salary range for this position is $50,565 - $63,207 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Offers typically fall within this range based on individual qualifications and budget availability. Certain positions may also be eligible for bonus/incentive compensation, subject to role and company policies.
