JOB PURPOSE

The Operating Room Booking Clerk is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the schedule for operating room theatres.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School graduation plus an administrative support program of at least six months duration plus one year of related experience OR five (5) years of recent experience (within the last 8 years) as a 1057, shall be considered as equivalent.
• Must have course in Medical Terminology and Keyboarding.
• Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Good work record.

Demonstrated proficiency verified by testing in:

• Data Entry 4000 KSPH
• Typing 35 WPM (General)
• Medical Terminology Spelling 75%
• Medical Terminology Vocabulary 75%
• Excel 50%
• Outlook 50%
• Word 50%

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operating Room Booking Clerk is responsible for:

• Coordinating and scheduling pre-operative testing
• Coordinating and scheduling surgeries
• Filing, maintaining, preparing and assembling charts
• Producing and distributing surgical schedules
• Maintaining surgical waitlists
• Communicating with patients, physicians, and other departments
• Entering data, compiling statistics and producing reports
• Performing general clerical and office duties
