Who we need
Reporting to the Director of Real Estate and Facilities, we are hiring a Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, safety, and day-to-day operations of our Ontario campuses and office spaces. As our new Facilities Manager, you will ensure our environments are safe, functional, and well-maintained, supporting the experience of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. You will coordinate repairs and maintenance, manage vendor relationships, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to keep operations running smoothly while contributing to longer-term facilities planning and projects.
This existing vacancy is an onsite role working five days per week at our downtown Toronto location with occasional travel at our other locations as necessary.
What’s in it for you
Impact on the campus experience. This role offers the opportunity to play a meaningful part in how students, faculty, and staff experience the campus every day. Supporting a large, multi-floor environment during a period of significant growth and transition, you will ensure spaces are safe, functional, and ready to support teaching, learning, and collaboration.
A collaborative and hands-on environment. You will work closely with academic teams, operations, and external vendors to coordinate the many moving parts that keep the campus running. You will oversee day-to-day facilities operations while contributing to planning, projects, and continuous improvement. This is a role where you will move between immediate problem-solving and longer-term thinking, with visibility across how facilities supports the broader organization.
Professional growth and development. This role offers the opportunity to build experience across both operational and planning aspects of facilities management. As the campus evolves, there is potential to take on increased responsibility, including team leadership, along with access to ongoing learning and development opportunities aligned with your career goals.
As our new Facilities Manager, you will:
- Oversee day-to-day facilities operations. You will ensure campus and office spaces are safe, clean, and operating effectively. This includes responding to issues, coordinating repairs, and maintaining environments that support teaching, learning, and day-to-day operations with minimal disruption.
- Coordinate vendors and service providers. Working with external partners, you will schedule and oversee janitorial, maintenance, and specialized services, ensuring work is completed on time and aligned with quality and safety expectations.
- Maintain building systems and standards. In partnership with base-building property management, you will support HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and security systems. You will conduct regular inspections, identify risks, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
- Plan and deliver facilities projects. You will take an active role in facilities-related projects, including space planning, renovations, and campus moves. Collaboration across teams will be key to ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and meet operational and academic needs.
- Contribute to planning and continuous improvement. You will support the development of maintenance programs, budgeting, and procurement strategies. Balancing immediate needs with longer-term planning, you will identify opportunities to improve how facilities are managed.
- Collaborate across the organization. You will partner with academic leaders, operations teams, and other stakeholders to understand needs, prioritize requests, and deliver practical, effective solutions.
- Support the growth of the facilities function. As the campus evolves, you will contribute to building out the facilities function, with the opportunity to take on coordination and, over time, leadership responsibilities.
You bring:
- The experience. You have experience in facilities management or a related field, working in environments where you are responsible for maintaining safe, functional spaces. You have been involved in coordinating maintenance, managing vendors, and supporting facilities operations, ideally within a complex or multi-site setting.
- The knowledge. You understand building systems, maintenance best practices, and health and safety requirements. You are familiar with working alongside property management and external service providers, and you bring an awareness of how to maintain environments that meet operational, safety, and compliance standards.
- The project and problem-solving skills. You are comfortable managing multiple priorities at once, from responding to day-to-day issues to supporting larger projects such as moves, renovations, or space planning. You think ahead where possible, balancing reactive work with proactive planning, and approach challenges with a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
- The interpersonal and communication skills. You build strong working relationships across teams and with external partners. You build strong working relationships across teams and with external partners. You understand how to navigate different priorities, communicate clearly, and follow through to ensure work gets done.
- The adaptability. You are comfortable working in an environment where priorities shift and change is ongoing. You can adjust quickly, remain organized, and continue to deliver in a setting that is evolving and growing. You can work occasional flexible hours when required to support students and campus initiatives. You will work closely within a diverse team covering a broad range of responsibilities - including campus security. From time to time, you may be asked to provide coverage for security management, including coverage for times the Security Manager is away on vacation.
- The mindset. You take ownership of your work and are willing to step in where needed. You are not limited by strict role boundaries and are comfortable contributing wherever required. You are motivated to learn and grow, with an interest in expanding your responsibilities over time.
