Key Responsibilities

As the Director of Traffic , you will lead the organization’s transportation and logistics operations, ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods across domestic and international markets. Please note that this position is located in Regina, SK. Relocation assistance is provided.

Transportation & Logistics Operations

  • Oversee all inbound and outbound transportation activities, ensuring the timely and efficient movement of materials, equipment, and finished goods.
  • Develop and implement transportation strategies that optimize shipping methods, improve service levels, and reduce operational costs.
  • Manage transportation activities across multiple freight modes, including parcel, TL, LTL, heavy haul, ocean, and air freight.

Carrier & Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support seamless transportation operations.
  • Review, negotiate, and manage freight rates and service agreements for both domestic and international transportation providers.
  • Monitor carrier performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiencies.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Partner closely with Purchasing and Customs teams to ensure compliance with transportation regulations, customs requirements, and industry standards.
  • Lead freight auditing, payment, accrual, and claims management processes while identifying and mitigating operational risks.
  • Leverage reporting and analytics to support decision-making, forecasting, and performance management initiatives.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and ongoing support to the Traffic team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Coordinate training initiatives to ensure employees remain informed on transportation regulations, compliance requirements, and operational best practices.
  • Support a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across the department.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Distribution, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience within transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong experience managing domestic and international transportation activities across multiple freight modes.

Technical Skills

  • Experience working with ERP systems and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations, customs requirements, freight auditing, and carrier management practices.
