Road Construction Junior Inspector

Responsibilities:

• Perform as Engineering representative (QVE) on the construction site. Coordinates field staff and attends site meetings and client meetings.
• Monitor overall project schedule and day-to-day activities on site.
• Review contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure proper coordination and installation
• Review QA/QC standards and procedures required for the project to be implemented and within the company guidelines.
• Inspect the quality of construction and construction materials
• Participates in periodic updates and regularly communicates with the customer, project team, field staff, subcontractors and all other stakeholders to ensure compliance of construction projects with specifications, schedule and budget through completion.
• Coordinates the movement of assigned equipment, tools, supplies and other resources needed to complete the job and controls losses
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or student in the field of Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Applied knowledge with MTO, OPSS/OPSD, ASTM, CAITM Manual and CSA methodology and procedures.
• Capable to read and understand construction plans, drawings, specifications technical procedures and government regulations.
• Knowledge of various civil and highway construction; Ability or recognize non-compliant conditions and initiate corrective measures.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Projects, and Primavera.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• C.E.T./C. Tech/EIT/RCJI certification is a must.
• Certified under CCIL, CSA or ACI is an asset.

• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with clients, contractors, and co-workers.
• Willingness to work overtime and some weekend work is necessary during the construction season.
• Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable vehicle.
