Job Overview

Senior System & Lab Administrator – hybrid role based in St.Laurent. You will work primarily onsite from the HPE office while maintaining and evolving the lab environment used for product validation.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain lab servers, storage systems and virtualization environments (KVM, Docker, Linux).
• Manage virtual machine lifecycles—creation, configuration, optimization, retirement—in production‑grade environments.
• Oversee lab network configuration including VLANs, routing, and controlled access to devices under test.
• Ensure stable and secure connectivity between test systems, management stations and shared resources, troubleshooting outages as required.
• Create and maintain documentation and lab topology diagrams.
• Build, configure and maintain test topologies using access points, switches, gateways and RF equipment.
• Collaborate closely with engineers to define requirements and optimize test‑bed reliability.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and monitoring tools to track system health, resource usage and connectivity.
• Implement alerting and logging mechanisms to quickly identify failures or abnormal behavior.
• Deploy and manage services using Docker containers where applicable.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 8+ years of infrastructure administration in lab or production environments.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Software/ Electrical/ Computer Engineering (or equivalent).
• Hands‑on experience with KVM virtualization, Docker and Linux‑based systems.
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts: VLANs, routing, switching, firewalling, DHCP, DNS.
• Proficiency in scripting for automation, system health monitoring and configuration tasks.
• Experience working with physical networking equipment (APs, switches, gateways).
• Strong troubleshooting skills in hardware and software environments.
• CCNA certification or equivalent experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Nice‑to‑Have

• Experience with LDAP or other access management technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Knowledge of REST APIs and automation frameworks.
• Exposure to RF or wireless networking technologies.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: CAD64,700 –120,300 plus variable incentives. Comprehensive benefits package including health, wellbeing and professional development programs.
