Client Care Worker

Position Summary:

The Client Care Worker (CCW) provides direct support to individuals and families residing in The Carter House Family Treatment Center, which supports parents in recovery from substance use while caring for their children. The CCW plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment that promotes healing, stability, and healthy family functioning through both Western and Indigenous approaches to care.

Key Responsibilities

Client Support & Engagement:
Assist parents/children with daily routines/activities of daily living
Provide emotional support to navigate recovery and parenting responsibilities
Model and reinforce healthy communication, boundaries, and parenting skills

Childcare & Supervision:
Supervise and engage children in culturally relevant learning activities
Support parents in caregiving, using Indigenous ways of knowing
Monitor child safety and development

Program & Environment Support:
Support daily routines, cleanliness, and structured activities

Communication & Documentation:
Observe, monitor and document client behaviors, interactions, and progress

Health & Safety:
Assist with medication administration
Respond to emergencies
Follow health, safety, and infection control procedures

Qualifications:
Understanding of Indigenous culture and intergenerational trauma
Community Support Worker program certificate or equivalent qualification
Experience working in addiction, mental health, or family services settings
Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and child development
Valid CPR/First Aid
Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector clearance

Working Conditions:
Provides 24/7 support, 8 hr shifts days, evenings, nights
Involves standing, lifting, and responding to emotionally charged situations
Participation in safety interventions and de-escalation
