Location: An outdoor adventurer's dream, Texada Island, on the Sunshine Coast of BC, is the largest of the Gulf Islands at over 300 square kilometres. Affectionately known as “The Rock,” Texada Island has a fantastic colourful history, including stories of Wild West gold fever days. The island boasts natural outdoor attractions not found anywhere else. An abundance of trails and old logging roads cover the island, making hiking and biking easily accessible, A lack of predators makes outdoor adventuring here even more attractive. There are 10 lakes suitable for kayaking or canoeing in addition to wonderful marine bays and coves ringing the island. Our employees choose to live either directly on Texada Island, or in nearby Powell River. There is a strong sense of community in both locations which makes for a great environment to raise a family. Powell River is a very welcoming, quiet, and friendly community, with the warmth of a small town, but the amenities of a larger city. If you are looking for the opportunity to buy a home and settle into a smaller community to raise your family, or to be more accessible to the outdoors, you'll find that real estate prices in the region are significantly lower than those in the Greater Vancouver area or Vancouver Island. Texada Island is accessible by ferry, with BC Ferries operating ferry service from the Westview terminal in Powell River to the Blubber Bay terminal on Texada Island, with a 35 minute crossing time. Overview: Reporting to the Operations Manager the Aggregates EIT would provide operational and technical resource support for the Texada Quarry Team. This is a developmental role and an opportunity to gain widespread expertise within the Aggregates business with the ultimate goal of building a long-term career with Lafarge. Responsibilities: Technical support for all areas of the business including:

• Operations
• Mine planning and development
• Quality Control
• Project Management
• Environmental

Examples of responsibilities may include:

• To serve as a role model in the areas of safety, environmental stewardship, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company's vision and critical success factors
• Assist area management in planning, coordinating and supervising production activities
• Validate and match physical inventories
• Data entry for production entries in SAP (plant and production reports)
• Work closely with managers and supervisors on pit and plant optimization
• Participate and support managers and supervisors regarding safety, quality and production tracking and targets
• Participate in monthly meetings outlining improvement opportunities
• Coordinating with project managers, quality control personnel, and plant production on project details, scheduling, and problem resolution
• Carryout plant and site inspections for quality assurance
• Assist structural and slope inspections for identifying potential hazards
• Assist with environmental and permitting projects

Relationships with Others Jobs:

• Works closely with Operations Manager, Land Manager, Area Managers, Equipment Manager, Mining Engineer and Supervisors
• Liaisons with Management, Environment, Safety, Finance and other departments.

Salary: $ 70,000.00 to $80,000.00 per annum Qualifications: Education:

• Recent graduate from a Bachelor of Engineering or Technology, Business, or related degree.
• Interest in a long-term career in business, engineering, and construction with a goal to pursue P. Eng. or CET designation.

Experience & Skill Set:

• Strong computer technical aptitude to learn new systems and programs
• Good physical condition
• Ability to perform in a non-routine environment
• Ability to make rational decisions and resolve conflict
• A team leader with excellent negotiation, communication and people skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter / Problem solver / Self-disciplined
• Good Critical thinking and prioritization skills
• Good presentation and interpersonal skills
• Confidence to work independently, safely, and travel to remote gravel pits
• On-site construction experience would be considered an asset
• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) would be considered an asset
• Knowledge of Information technology (IT) would be considered an asset
• Knowledge of any programming language would be considered an asset
