SE Health is excited to offer this Home Support Worker Training and Personal Support Worker Certificate Program to provide a new generation of passionate Support Workers with the skills they need to help people in our communities.

Are you someone who wants to put their energy and passion for life towards caring for others? We are seeking committed, compassionate people who can multi-task to meet a variety of challenges.

This training program has been designed to provide you with all of the knowledge and skills you need to be successful.

This training pathway includes two parts:

· Part 1: Five (5) weeks of paid HSW training at $19.05/hr., Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

· During this paid training period, you will build foundational skills to support clients with personal care activities, household management, and general support.

· Candidates who successfully complete the five (5) weeks of paid HSW training are eligible to work part time in the community with SE Health while completing their PSW education.

· Part 2: Six (6) month unpaid PSW Certificate Program, Monday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, inperson through SE Career College of Health.

· Includes in-person theory and skills lab learning in Kingston, plus community and Long-Term Care practicums to build hands-on experience.

HSW Training Requirements:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
  • Ability to travel and attend meetings to support the needs of the patient
  • Having a valid G or G2 driver’s license and you own reliable vehicle is mandatory
  • Having a Standard First Aid and level C CPR certificate within 3 weeks of start date
  • Proof of updated required Immunizations MMR, Varicella/Zosters, HepB, Tetanus and a negative Tuberculosis test (from within the last 6 months)
  • Must have a clear police check and vulnerable sector check (Upon Job Offer)
