Ready Mix Concrete Batcher

Job Responsibility:

· Thorough knowledge of concrete batching/dispatching and equipment

· Experience loading a ready-mix plant with a front-end loader

· Strong communication skills are imperative

· Problem-solving skills to address batching or equipment issues in real-time

· Knowledge of concrete mix designs and quality control measures Competent computer knowledge including batching software (eg MPAQ, Command Alkon, Jonel, Marcotte)

· Strong organizational skills

· Ability to work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment

· Ability to work both within a team environment and at times self-directed

· Coordinate ready-mix plant opening and closing according to established company procedures and guidelines

· Monitor and schedule raw material deliveries

· Operate batch console to produce concrete according to customer and company specifications

· Review tickets prior to mixer loading to ensure accuracy of mix, directions, and order extras

· Organize truck loading to ensure timely deliveries

· Communicate with support departments (fleet/plant maintenance, technical services, quality, dispatch, etc.)

· Perform routine maintenance and cleaning as directed by the maintenance manager

· Assist in yard duties when required

· Assist in training new employees when required

· Complete monthly inventory

· Order taking/dispatching when necessary

· Adhere to all workplace safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements

· Comply with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations

Physical Requirements

· Frequent periods of sitting in a chair

· Stair climbing

· Occasional ladder climbing

· Intermittent exposure to high noise levels, dust, and vibration

· Occasional stooping, squatting, bending, and twisting

· Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50 pounds

· Ability to work in different weather conditions if working in the yard, including rain, heat, and cold

· Required use of hearing, eye, and respiratory protection when necessary

Hours/Wages & Benefits

· Monday-Friday are regular working hours with start and finish times dependent on order schedule

· Half-day on Saturday on a rotating basis with other batchers

· Hourly rate: Dependent on experience

· Full company benefits after a 90-day probationary period (medical, dental, vision, etc.)

· 4.5% RRSP match after one year of service

· Overtime after 44 hours, automatic on Saturdays

· Boot allowance of $150 after one year of service
