About Zack's Crib:

Founded in 2018, the Zack's Crib (ZC) project came to fruition when some parents who were struggling to find the right services for their son, started talking to other people who were either living similar situations or wanted to help. Zack's Crib provides safe and accessible emergency shelter to people experiencing homelessness in the community of New Liskeard. Zack's Crib collaborates with the District of Timiskaming Social Services Administration Board (DTSSAB) and other diverse stakeholders to address homelessness and barriers to support in the community through the development and operation of an emergency safe beds program. Zack's Crib service delivery is rooted in housing first, trauma-informed, and culturally-relevant approaches. ZC strives for participation of people with direct and indirect lived/living experience in all levels of the organization.

Position Title: Safe Beds Worker

Location: 183 Broadwood Ave, New Liskeard

Hours of Work: 40 hours/ week (Sunday - Thursday)

• 10:00 PM - 8:00 AM (10-hour shifts, paid breaks on-site)

Position Summary: Safe Beds Workers work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide person-centered services in a trauma-informed, non- judgemental, and responsible manner.

The position supports the day-to-day operations of Zack's Cribs programs and supports people experiencing homelessness to interact with the programs toward achieving permanent and appropriate housing in the community.

Key Responsibilities: Facilitate the day-to-day operations of Zack's Crib. *

• Work toward eliminating real or perceived barriers that prevent or inhibit access to Zack's Crib programs.
• Provide support to people accessing programs with activities of daily living.
• Triage and assess the needs of people accessing programs through the consistent use of common assessment, intake, and client forms.
• Use effective conflict resolution skills to build trust/rapport and respond to any issues as they arise.
• Assist in meal preparation and housekeeping duties of the Safe

Beds program.

• Complete administrative tasks; including tracking of program usage, maintenance of client files, and responding to client and community requests via phone or email.
• Be familiar with community resources and refer individuals to the appropriate supports as requested.
• Manage challenging situations and difficult behaviour through a trauma-informed and person-first approach.
• Assess safety risk of individuals and programming areas.
• Notify supervisor(s) of any health and safety concerns.

Requirements: Post-secondary education in a relevant field; which may include, Social *Work, Nursing, Personal Support Worker, Social Justice & CommunityDevelopment.*

• Direct or in-direct lived/living experience of homelessness and/or mental illness & substance use.
• Paid or unpaid experience working with marginalized individuals.
• Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion.
• Effective crisis intervention skills.
• Experience with administrative processes and tools.
• Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including night shifts throughout the week, on weekends, and on holidays.
• Ability to speak multiple languages will be considered an asset.

Compensation: $25/hour (Full-time)

• $23/hour (part-time)
• 10 paid vacation days
