THE OPPORTUNITY

Our focus on redefining how things are done in the emerging energy industry will be key to the future of our organization and the industry itself. Scovan is seeking an Innovation Engineer to join our Product Innovation team and work closely with stakeholders within the department to help drive our innovation agenda forward. The role is designed for a graduate of mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or energy engineering, who has recently achieved their professional engineering accreditation with APEGA.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Essential technical skills to support innovation initiatives that Scovan is advancing
• Previous experience in entrepreneurial or corporate innovation environments
• Previous experience at an EPFC firm, preferably having worked on SAGD projects

This role will be accountable to the Vice President of Product Innovation.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify and understand technical or business problems, applying innovative thinking to draft and assess potential solutions.
• Adopt a user-first perspective in developing solution ideas, ensuring technical problems are framed around final user benefits.
• Engage in agile, adaptive behavior to manage risks and facilitate rapid, practical innovation.
• Collaborate with various teams to create narrative stories explaining problems and solutions, garnering support for innovative initiatives.
• Iterate on ideas, utilizing new technologies to design innovative solutions that align with Scovan's goals and the emerging energy industry's needs.
• Execute product development initiatives for both new and existing Scovan products, including designing systems, running experiments, gathering data, and analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on results.
• Communicate, interface, and collaborate effectively with your manager, co-workers, vendors, and clients.
• Pursue excellence. Be relentless in pursuit of opportunities to expand Scovan's product portfolio and optimize existing offerings.
• A positive attitude, a results-oriented mindset, and a roll up your sleeves mentality with a whatever it takes mindset to get the job done.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, or Energy Engineering
• Professional engineering accreditation with APEGA
• Preference for candidates with experience in entrepreneurial or corporate innovation environments, or who completed a joint BSc (Engineering) and BComm program
• Preference for candidates with experience with companies doing work in SAGD
• Preference for candidates with previous engineering & fabrication firm experience
• Keen to learn new technologies related to energy transition
• Able to multitask and work simultaneously on different projects
• Eager to take ownership of results and work towards improving future outcomes
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Monday.com software
• Demonstrated initiative, advocacy for teamwork, innovative thinking, and problem-solving aptitude

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
