Position Summary

As a Server, you will provide professional table service to residents and guests while supporting the daily operations of the Dining Services department. Working collaboratively with the culinary team, you will ensure meals are served efficiently, safely, and according to individual preferences and dietary requirements.

You will assist with meal service, food preparation, cleaning and sanitation, and special events while delivering exceptional customer service that promotes resident satisfaction and dignity.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional dining service by taking meal orders, serving food and beverages, accommodating resident preferences and dietary requirements, and supporting special events and functions
• Assist with food preparation, plating, portioning, storage, labeling, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards
• Maintain clean and sanitary dining, kitchen, and service areas, including table resetting, dishwashing, linen handling, and daily cleaning duties
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, guests, and team members through professional, courteous, and respectful communication
• Communicate resident concerns, preferences, and feedback to supervisors and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members
• Participate in orientation, ongoing training, departmental meetings, and AON Academy education programs
• Promote resident dignity, independence, and quality of life through exceptional customer service
• Follow all workplace health and safety, infection prevention and control (IPAC), Public Health, and company policies and procedures
• Identify and report safety hazards, incidents, equipment concerns, and participate in workplace safety initiatives
• Maintain valid Safe Food Handler and Smart Serve certifications and perform other related duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

• Valid Safe Food Handler Certification required
• Valid Smart Serve Certification required
• Food Service Worker Certificate, or enrollment in a Food Service Worker program, is considered an asset
• Previous experience in food service, hospitality, restaurant, hotel, or retirement living settings preferred
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
• Comfortable working with older adults and delivering resident-centered service
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a team
• Professional appearance and commitment to service excellence
• Physically capable of performing the duties of the position
• Available to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as required
• Must comply with company immunization and occupational health requirements
