- Monitor emerging technologies and trends in science and engineering to inform engagement analysis and client recommendations.
- Analyze clients' technological environments (products, processes, architecture, testing, iterations) to assess the eligibility of activities under the SR&ED program and/or other incentive programs.
- Define project eligibility frameworks and build robust technical/scientific arguments (technological uncertainty, advancement, systematic work, evidence) to support claims.
- Manage engagements end-to-end: plan, organize, and execute multiple mandates while meeting timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Lead client relationships by developing trusted relationships at multiple levels (R&D, finance, executive leadership), proactively managing expectations, and contributing to the identification of value-added opportunities.
- Oversee the preparation of technical/scientific deliverables related to SR&ED claims for clients across a wide range of scientific and technological sectors.
- Prepare and facilitate technical interviews and workshops (remote and in person) to identify eligible projects, gather critical information, and validate documentation.
- Draft and document engineering/scientific projects in accordance with SR&ED program guidelines, ensuring consistency, traceability, and defensibility of submissions.
- Support clients and internal teams during Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) reviews, including preparing responses, consolidating supporting documentation, and participating in meetings.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by developing tools, templates, and reports, and by optimizing processes to enhance operational efficiency and deliverable quality.
- University degree in engineering (chemical, process, pulp and paper, environmental, biopharmaceutical, electrical/computer) or in another relevant scientific discipline; a graduate degree is considered an asset.
- Minimum of three (3) years of industry experience, with demonstrated ability to address complex technical challenges and deliver results in demanding environments.
- Experience with and knowledge of the Canadian SR&ED program and/or U.S. R&E tax credits is a strong asset, including an understanding of compliance, documentation, and claim defensibility requirements.
- Strong analytical and synthesis skills applied to projects, including technological positioning, activity qualification, assessment of technological uncertainty, financial evaluation of eligible work and expenditures, and validation of compliance with program criteria.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English, with the ability to adapt messaging to a variety of stakeholders (R&D, finance, tax, executive leadership).
- Leadership in technical discussions, with the ability to structure and facilitate interviews to identify root causes, clarify innovation objectives, document hypotheses and iterations, and understand key R&D development concepts.
- Curiosity, rigor, and a commitment to continuous learning, with a strong willingness to develop new skills through research, analysis, and rapid adoption of diverse and/or emerging technologies.
- Ability to manage multiple client priorities, including planning, prioritization, and efficient execution to meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality and consistency in deliverables.
- Strong client orientation and advisory mindset, with the ability to understand client business models, build strong relationships, manage expectations, and deliver value-added recommendations.
- Strong business acumen and growth mindset, demonstrated through a proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented approach, with the ability to identify opportunities (process improvement, engagement expansion, optimization of effort and profitability) and contribute to the growth of the practice.
