Lead Breakfast Server

At the Element by Westin Calgary Downtown, we are a boutique, all-suite hotel located in Calgary’s vibrant west end, focused on the wellness of our guests and associates alike.
We are looking for a warm, friendly, and organized Lead Breakfast Server who will lead the breakfast service team, ensuring professional, competent, and prompt service that meets our restaurant and brand standards.
Key Accountabilities
- Always provide the highest quality service to guests and associates, leading by example.
- Train, maintain, and enforce all service standards.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment for all associates and guests; report unsafe conditions to management.
- Ensure the department is fully staffed and able to handle the volume of business.
- Understand and teach empowerment principles to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Listen and provide support to team members to ensure associate satisfaction and retention.
- Greet guests as they enter, consistently delivering exceptional service.
- Provide fast, friendly, professional, and responsive service to restaurant guests, restaurant staff, and the culinary production team.
- Be familiar with all breakfast food and beverage items.
- Check with guests to ensure they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
- Perform opening and closing procedures (setup and breakdown of stations, clearing and resetting tables, etc.).
- Maintain and ensure the overall cleanliness of the breakfast area.
- Endeavor to work in a unified and collaborative way that fosters teamwork.
- Follow all safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions.
- Have thorough knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Practice safety standards at all times, leading by example.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Lead or Supervisory role in a coffee shop or hotel restaurant environment.
- Hospitality or Tourism program graduate or degree holder.
- Outstanding work ethic, reliability, punctuality, approachable demeanor, and strong commitment to safety.
- Priority on providing guests with the best possible experiences, going above and beyond to ensure total satisfaction and guest loyalty.
- Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
- Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and preference for teamwork.
- Knowledge of food handling, food safety, and basic math skills.
- Valid ProServe certification.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physically able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 30 lbs.
