Who We Are:
Purpose Society is a community-based multi-service organization dedicated to delivering comprehensive programs for children, youth, and families. We focus on enhancing well-being, strengthening family functioning, and promoting personal responsibility through a client-centered approach. Our services are provided in a safe, respectful environment that values diversity and community connection.
The Opportunity:
The Burnaby Youth Hub is a low-barrier, inclusive space where youth aged 12–24 can access supports, programs, and services that promote their health, development, and overall well-being. As a program of Purpose Society, the Hub works closely with community partners to provide coordinated, youth-centred services and create a space where young people feel supported, connected, and engaged.
Purpose Society is seeking a Facilitator, Burnaby Youth Hub. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Hub, coordination of programming, supporting the Burnaby Youth Hub Steering Committee, and maintaining strong working relationships with community partners. The Facilitator ensures services remain responsive to youth needs and aligned with a coordinated service delivery approach.
The successful candidate will bring a strong commitment to working with youth, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, along with relevant education and experience in areas such as adolescent development, mental health, and criminogenic risk factors.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee daily operations of the Burnaby Youth Hub, including administrative coordination.
- Organize and facilitate meetings and events, including the Burnaby Youth Hub Steering Committee.
- Develop and deliver programs tailored to at-risk youth.
- Manage outreach and communications, including social media and promotion of Hub services.
- Support program volunteers and staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, including schools, health authorities, MCFD, and non-profit organizations, within a coordinated service model.
- Ensure programs operate in alignment with accreditation standards, legislation, and best practices in youth and family services.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in social sciences, social services, or a related field.
- Experience working in community services, non-profits, or a related sector, including experience supporting youth who may face barriers.
- Knowledge of community resources, services, and referral networks, particularly those available to youth and families in Burnaby.
- Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience supporting or coordinating staff and/or volunteers.
- Strong group facilitation, workshop delivery, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong advocacy, resource navigation, and referral skills.
- Ability to build positive, respectful, and inclusive relationships with youth from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively with community partners, service providers, schools, and families.
- Typical shifts may fall between 2:00PM and 6:30PM, with occasional daytime hours required for meetings, planning, outreach, and special events. Availability to work flexible hours as required.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
Assets:
The following would be considered assets:
- Crisis intervention and suicide prevention training.
- Experience creating and editing digital content for social media.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approaches to working with youth.
