The Senior Project Manager is a key role in supporting Risk Reduction & Resilience team's contributions to Canadian Red Cross recovery operations. The role leads the design, implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of project management systems, processes, frameworks, and tools that support the effective planning, delivery, and monitoring, of projects. This role involves managing project dependencies and risks while ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. The Senior Project Manager drives collaboration across Risk Reduction & Resilience teams, facilitates decision-making, and leads change management efforts to support seamless project transitions and adoption. Additionally, they optimize resource allocation, support financial tracking and reporting, and promote continuous improvement in project management processes, ensuring compliance with governance standards and organizational policies.
In this role, you will :
- Defines the execution roadmap in alignment with strategic goals and community recovery priorities.
- Guides development and maintain of project plans, timelines, resource allocations, and budgets, managing dependencies and critical paths to ensure communities receive the appropriate supports within the recovery journey.
- Leads project project processes and support of service lines or team accountable for program , ensuring deliverables meet
- Canadian Red Cross and donor scope, timeline, and financial targets.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks with proactive contingency planning.
- Manage scope changes, assess impacts, and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, ensuring alignment, issue resolution, and decision-making.
- Oversee change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of project outcomes.
- Optimize resource allocation across multiple projects while balancing competing priorities.
- Track and manage project budgets, forecast costs, and implement cost-saving measures.
- Conduct post-mortems to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership to project teams, offering guidance, coaching, and fostering a collaborative culture.
- Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, project management standards, and organizational policies.
- Continuously refine project management processes based on team and stakeholder feedback.
What we are looking for:
- Qualifications include a minimum of 6-9 years experience and a 3-year college diploma or university degree in project management, business administration or similar and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires expertise in a specialized discipline or broad experience across fields, along with an understanding of interconnections between processes and business units.
- Project management institute (PMI) certification or equivalent is required
- Demonstrated experience in managing all phases of large-scale and complex projects.
- Demonstrated experience in defining and executing on change management plans to ensure user adoption and sustainment of project outcomes
- Advanced skills in project management tools and methodologies across the full project cycle.
- Work experience and knowledge relevant to the project area.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint and project management
information systems (SmartSheet, Jira, Microsoft Planner, Project Operations, etc.).
- Ability to facilitate multiple stakeholders to achieve consensus, issue resolution, and decisions on complex issues with
conflicting perspectives.
- Ability to identify complex problems, analyze interrelated factors, assess and mitigate risks, and develop solutions using
specialized skills.
- Communication and influence skills to gather perspectives, understand needs, and present information to reach consensus, often in somewhat sensitive situations.
- Ability to identify and assess potential risks that may affect project outcomes by developing risk mitigation strategies and
contingency plans to minimize the impact of risks
Working Conditions:
- The majority of work is conducted virtually, with occasional on-site meetings in various settings.
- Access to a home-based workspace and reliable internet is required.
- All CRC roles are required to adapt work and priorities to support emergency response efforts, be present in person as required to support service delivery and deploy to emergency responses when appropriate and/or required (personnel availability and request for exceptions will be discussed with line management).
- For CRC roles that are assigned a function in the Emergency Relief operational structure (in field and virtual), personnel may be required to be part of an on-call roster and be available for scheduled on-call work.
