Job Summary
This position provides clinical Occupational Therapy Services on the Burin Peninsula with identified boundaries. This Occupational Therapist in this position practices independently and is an integral member of the interprofessional team. The clinical occupational therapist will work closely with the individual, family and caregivers and other community partners.This position is responsible for providing Occupational Therapy services to adults living in the context of their home and community. This Clinical Occupational Therapy position is responsible for the identification of occupational performance areas, completion of assessments, co-creating treatment goals, providing intervention, and follow up plan with the client and caregivers. The clinical occupational therapist will utilize their knowledge of the physical, cognitive, social and emotional components of the person, occupations and environment, to promote safe and meaningful occupational participation. Virtual clinical services will also be provided as necessary and
appropriate.
The Occupational Therapist II receives clinical support and mentoring from the Occupational Therapist III for Community Support Program. The OT will be responsible to precept Occupational Therapy students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within NLHS.
The position reports to the Program Manager of the Community Support Program and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Occupational Therapy for integrity and professional practice issues.

Fine finger/precision is required on a regular basis when performing work on the computer
Visual and auditory concentration is regularly required as well as higher than normal levels of attentiveness or alertness.
Job Qualifications
Graduate of a school or program of occupational therapy recognized by the board.
Current licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Therapy Board.
A minimum of three years of experience within the last five working as a Clinical Occupational Therapist in adult physical health is required.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, with interprofessional team members, patients/residents/clients and their families in a one-to-one and group environment.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills required for client documentation, report writing and professional communications
Demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of occupational therapy practice to others.
Proven supervisory and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and train Clinical Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapist Support Workers and students.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
Proven ability to assume professional responsibility for safe, ethical and effective practice.
Proven ability to develop positive working relationships with external stakeholders.
A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
