Brooks, Alberta has an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Assistant to provide support to the Occupational and Physiotherapists. The successful candidate will have superior organizational skills, knowledge of rehab equipment, AADL processes and patient centered care principles. Therapist Assistants are integral to the Allied Health Team and are required to have superior communication (written and verbal) skills so that they can properly relay information between therapists, nursing staff, patients/families and other stakeholders in care. This position offers an all-encompassing opportunity to provide client-centred care to clients in hospital, supportive living environments, and their own homes. The successful candidate will have a broad skill set to meet a variety of clients' needs. You will be a partner in delivering quality programs aimed at enhancing optimal client function. You will collaborate, cooperate and develop effective partnerships with other providers with a focus on prevention, protection, treatment and promotion for all ages across the continuum of services. Brooks is a city in southeast Alberta, Canada, surrounded by the County of Newell. It is one of fastest growing communities in Alberta with a multi-cultural flavor unique to other municipalities. Residents enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreational activities including camping, boating, fishing, sailing, kayaking, water skiing (water sports) ice fishing and skating in winter, just to name a few.
As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Required Qualifications
Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

Valid Heart and Stroke Basic Life Savings certificate Access to a reliable vehicle for business purposes.

Previous experience working in both occupational therapy and physiotherapy as a Therapy Assistant and with an adult population Previous experience with Connect Care documentation would be considered an asset
