Nanny Wanted - Hiring Experienced Nanny/Household Support Person In East Toronto $23 28 Per Hour Join Our Loving Family Today!

$23 - $28 per hour

CanadianNanny.ca

We're a family near Danforth and Main looking for a warm, capable person for a part-time live-out role — with hours changing shape between summer (14h/week) and the school year (24h/week). We're committed to being good employers, because we know a happy person in our home makes everything work better for everyone, including our kids. We are an LGBTQ affirming and anti-racist family and welcome applicants from all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life. *A bit about us* We have two kids, 8 and 11. Our 8yo is autistic (Level 1 support) and has ADHD and some other exceptionalities, though he lives a reasonably “normal” life. He's sweet and loving, and when he's uncertain about something new, that shows up as anxiety – not aggression – he might cry or need some time. He does best with someone who is genuinely neuro-affirming, brings real warmth and playfulness, but who can also lead with calm firmness when needed. Structure and predictability matter a lot, and so does having someone who can keep him actively engaged — keeping him interested and moving through activities isn't always simple, and that's exactly the skill we're looking for. Following recommended occupational therapy activities at home is a normal part of our life, and this person would help with these in a fun, low-key way — no clinical background required, just willingness to follow direction and make it feel like play, not "work" for him. Our 11yo is starting middle school and won't need much day-to-day, but this person will be the one responsible for him during our evening/weekend hours out, and sometimes in the after-school window too. We also have a calm and well-behaved dog and a silly cat who are very good company — bonus points if you love animals and are open to giving them love and care. *The role, in two phases*

  • Summer schedule (now through early September) — approx. 14 hrs/week
  • 10 hrs/week household tasks (laundry, tidying, meal prep — we'd love help getting more home-cooked meals on the table), flexible between 8am–6pm
  • 4 hrs/week (minimum) evenings or weekends, focused on the kids
School-year schedule (starting September) — approx. 24 hrs/week, guaranteed - Monday–Friday, 1–5pm: 1–3pm household tasks, 3–5pm school pickup of 8yo and after-school time with one or both kids 4 hrs/week guaranteed evenings/weekends - Full days on TDSB Professional Activity (PA) days A note on flexibility: the September schedule (M–F, 3–5pm) is fixed — but we are somewhat flexible about how to schedule the other hours. Summer scheduling (which days, exact hours, and start date) has more room to work around your availability, as long as we land on ~14 hrs/week total. If you're excited about this role but summer timing feels tricky, tell us — we'd rather talk it through than lose a great fit over scheduling. We're looking for someone for the long haul, and we'll check in with you around mid-August to confirm how things are going before the September hours begin. *What we're looking for:*
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident with valid open work authorization
  • Real comfort and warmth with kids who think and move differently — lived experience or working experience with neurodivergent or disabled kids is a big plus
  • Comfortable both taking initiative around the house and following specific lists/routines
  • Comfort with meal planning and prep - we would love an injection of new energy in this regard
  • A playful approach, balanced with calm, confident leadership when firmness or consistency is needed
  • Reliability and follow-through
  • Open, two-way communication — we want regular feedback from you, and we'll give the same
*Nice to have, not required:*
  • A valid driver's license (occasional outings/grocery runs)
  • Experience with occupational/physical/speech language therapy-style home exercises
*The practical stuff:*
  • $23–28/hr, (gross wage), with vacation pay and statutory holiday pay paid on top per Ontario employment standards, plus standard CPP/EI deductions.
  • Vulnerable sector police check and references required
  • Start as soon as we find the right fit
