Job Summary

Gamma Foundries is seeking a Foundry Production Supervisor to oversee department operations and support employees while helping improve operational efficiency through the effective use of people, processes, and equipment.

This role is well suited for someone with strong foundry knowledge, hands-on production experience, and the ability to support safe, consistent, and quality-driven operations on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee department activities and employees within a foundry environment.
• Maintain strong knowledge of foundry processes and equipment, including melt deck operations, molding lines, pouring, shakeout, and finishing.
• Monitor and control metallurgical parameters, including chemistry, temperature, and pour rates, to support casting integrity and consistency.
• Apply working knowledge of sand system controls, including AFS grain fineness, permeability, and strength testing.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and positive employee relations on the shop floor.
• Participate in the training and development of temporary and full-time employees, including job task requirements.
• Resolve employee concerns through investigation and collaboration with Human Resources.
• Administer employee evaluations, probationary reviews, and performance management processes.
• Monitor compliance with productivity, quality, and delivery standards as outlined in KPIs and departmental objectives.
• Track and report employee time and attendance.
• Ensure compliance with safety programs and provide the necessary tools and equipment to meet established standards.
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, scrap reduction, and process optimization.
• Conduct audits of production setups to ensure readiness, make adjustments as required, and hold production if standards are not met.
• Participate in inventory counts and cycle counts as required.
• Update shop orders to reflect accurate foundry manufacturing parameters, including casting and production requirements.
• Ensure production meets standards specified in job orders, customer specifications, and ISO requirements.
• Work closely with Engineering and Quality to resolve technical and production-related issues on the floor.
• Manage consumables, including binders, coatings, refractories, and filters.
• Ensure accurate inventory transactions to maintain proper material flow and location control, including castings, returns, and raw materials.
• Use discretion when handling company and customer confidential information.
• Monitor daily and weekly performance, including efficiencies, production output, rework, scrap rates, and downtime.
• Implement corrective actions as required.
• Operate and oversee equipment in a safe manner and immediately report any malfunctions or concerns.
• Perform other duties as required.

Quality Management Duties

• Ensure all foundry processes are documented and maintained in accordance with Gamma’s Quality Management System.
• Review, improve, and approve QMS documentation, including work instructions and process standards.
• Train employees on QMS procedures and quality expectations.
• Perform internal audits of production processes, including molding, pouring, and finishing, to ensure compliance.
