The Transportation Group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and local municipal transportation agencies, as well as select contracting partners, on large scale projects across the whole Transportation spectrum of highways, roads and bridges, transit and multi-modal infrastructure, and transportation planning. Our team provides integrated transportation services throughout the project lifecycle from initial policy, transportation economics and business case advice, through concept, environmental assessment, detailed design, construction administration and asset management support.

Candidates' career path:

• This role is an excellent opportunity for a new graduate from a Civil Engineering program eager to learn and grow as a design engineer. The role will include a mix of design, engineering, and project management support ideal for someone looking to grow their career as a proficient transportation engineer, and eventually a project manager or design manager.

Candidates' career experiences may consist of:

• Successful participation in the delivery of roadway, freeway, and transit projects
• Production of preliminary design, detailed design, and technical specifications, cost and schedule estimating for highway expansion and reconstruction projects.
• Supporting the Project Manager (PM) through the project life cycle including proposal preparation, project administration, record-keeping, cost and schedule tracking, and communications with clients and customers.
• Coordinating multi-discipline teams comprising designers, specialists, and client interface under the direction of the PM.
• Collaboration in small and large teams. Integration with other engineering subject areas, engineers and design staff in the production of high-quality project work.
• Preparation of reports, and contract documents for review agencies, clients, and the public.
• Coordinating with sub-consultants, clients, agencies, utility companies and other customers.

Candidate Qualifications:

• Recent graduate with post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Registered as an EIT in Ontario, or eligible to do so.
• Proven passion for launching a career in roadway and highway engineering.
• Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, and/or OpenRoads would be an asset.
• Previous work experience in an engineering or contracting environment would be an asset.
• Familiarity with geometric design principals (i.e. TAC Geometric Guidelines) and Ontario design standards (i.e. OPSS) and client specific standards and requirements (i.e. MTO) would be an asset.
