Raw Material Buyer

The Buyer will be responsible for origination, sourcing, negotiating and purchasing of raw materials. Areas of focus will include market analysis, inventory management, customer and supplier relationship management, innovation, cost management, and continuous improvement. This position will work closely with Suppliers. Key Accountabilities

• Purchase specialty grain (Peas) and oversee/control inventory
• Create short and long-term plans to purchase specialty grain (Peas), at or below market profit plan.
• Negotiate contracts with providers in the best interest of Roquette Canada Ltd.
• Maintain Pea contracts current and legally binding.
• Develop and sustain long-term customer Logistics, Famers & Industry, supplier/vendor (producer [growers], brokers, and grain elevators, transportation & logistics providers) relations to ensure service and reliability. Ensure continuous and uninterrupted peas raw material supply at optimum cost, and within the policies and guidelines established by management, keeping Management and Operations informed of available inventory and potential issues.
• Source, plan, logistical partnerships.
• Suggest improvements on the grain procurement process to promote efficiency and cost savings, sustainability of the raw material and alignment with innovation strategy.
• Grain market analysis - Assess and analyze market data and trends; network with industry experts, customers and numerous suppliers. Daily monitoring of price in the Prairies, the export price and that of local grain competitors.
• Use supply and demand tools to analyze short/mid/long-term price direction in highly volatile and without market transparency.
• Analyze local transient supply and demand elements to determine better purchase timing that will affect inventory holding quantity decisions.
• Price Setting: Set daily pea bids, future price, price for differed delivery, selecting pea suppliers and integration of transportation & logistics options, and procurement.

• Other Items:
• Manage supplier/providers portfolio (growers, integrators and providers)
• Handling and management of all day-to-day fulfillment or orders - including the management of inbound schedule management and communication with pick up points

Specificities: Participate in continuous improvement programs Know and respect the rules concerning safety, quality, hygiene and the environment. Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the Roquette Pea processing plant and its operations Qualifications/Requirements Education: BS/BA in business or related, preferred Experience: 3-5 years of grain purchasing, merchandising, grain procurement preferred. Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP an asset Specific requirements: Valid driver's license Business Trips (Percentage): Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
