The Ministry of Social Services, Child and Family Programs, is seeking Emergency Duty Workers for permanent part-time, on-call rotational positions in Nipawin and area. The role provides after-hours emergency services to children and families and works closely with clients, families, community agencies, and ministry staff.
The ministry is looking for individuals who are accountable, collaborative, adaptable, inclusive, and able to make sound decisions in crisis situations. Candidates should understand First Nations and Mtis perspectives, multicultural values, poverty, systemic barriers, and the impact of socio-economic challenges on individuals and families. The ability to advocate for clients and connect them with appropriate supports is essential. Applicants should have knowledge of human services policies, practices, and procedures, typically gained through a human services-related diploma or degree and/or relevant experience. Strong communication, critical thinking, interpersonal, and digital skills are required. Candidates must be eligible to operate a vehicle in Saskatchewan, travel throughout rural and urban communities, work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be able to lift and carry children up to 20 kg. Duties include assessing risk and service needs, interviewing individuals and families, maintaining case documentation, developing and monitoring case plans, responding to crises, coordinating community resources, and transporting children or parents when required.
