Grooming Operator
Grooming Operators are dedicated individuals who work diligently during the nocturnal hours, meticulously crafting pristine snow surfaces, akin to laying down a corduroy carpet to enjoy the next day's winter sports enthusiasts. Their responsibilities extend to coaxing the best out of new snowfalls, reconstructing ski trails, fashioning terrain features for thrill-seekers in terrain parks, and fashioning an extraordinary skiing and snowboarding adventure for our valued guests. As Grooming Operators, their paramount duty is to ensure the utmost quality of snow surfaces, guaranteeing a safe and delightful experience in all Alpine and recreational areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Craft premium sliding conditions, elevating the snow to an art form.
- Maintain clear and hazard-free premises, including buildings and lift terminals.
- Execute shutdown and post-operation protocols, with meticulous documentation of machine maintenance.
- Vigilantly observe and adhere to all company safety, operational, and maintenance procedures.
- Foster harmonious working relationships with colleagues, assisting other departments when needed.
- Display a discerning eye for risk management concerns.
- Contribute to general equipment upkeep and maintenance.
- Conduct daily machine checks and meticulously record maintenance activities.
- Promptly report all potential maintenance issues and equipment glitches to the Maintenance Manager.
- Operate grooming equipment securely and efficiently.
- Fulfill all assigned tasks for the shift, both on and off the machinery, with regular engagement in manual labor.
- Possess the ability to ski or snowboard on Alpine runs and evaluate slope conditions as a valuable asset.
- Use of tiller and blade on the snow groomer to not only groom but push snow as needed throughout the season.
Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
- Mechanical acumen is essential for the Grooming Equipment Operator.
- Physical fitness, energy, and self-assuredness are prerequisites for success in this role.
- Teamwork is a core element of this position, although the operator must also be self-reliant when necessary.
- Ability to work alone
- Ability to work nightshift
- Adaptability is a key asset, along with the ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining a positive outlook in the face of challenges.
- A clean driving record is mandatory.
- Proficiency in maintaining written logs.
- A high school diploma is mandatory, and a skilled trade certification, such as millwright or mechanic, is a valuable asset.
- A minimum of two full seasons of experience in grooming ski runs is required, with preference given to candidates with extensive grooming expertise.
- Operating equipment in diverse weather conditions is a part of the role's demands.
- The operator must readily accept and follow directions to efficiently and safely perform assigned tasks.
- Drug testing may be required for this position.
Working Conditions:
- Winter temperatures ranging from -10 to -30C
- Sitting for up to 6 hours at a time
- Working independently as limited groomer operators are available with other roles
- Follow the direction of the Operations Supervisors and Manager
