The Senior Payroll Administrator will take ownership of the full-cycle payroll function with our client in the mining sector. This is a highly dynamic role where you will not only manage the day-to-day payroll execution for the existing team but also act as a key contributor in adapting workflows, internal software, and controls to handle large-scale, multi-site employee growth. The ideal candidate possesses strong accounting fundamentals, a process-improvement mindset, and a desire to advance within a scaling business.

Work Schedule: FT, The core schedule is 4 days per week on-site at the regional office in Quesnel, BC.

Commute Considerations: We recognize that a regular, daily commute from neighbouring regions like Prince George can be strenuous; therefore, alternative hybrid schedule balances or modified remote arrangements are entirely open for discussion for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
• Full-Cycle Payroll: Execute accurate and timely full-cycle payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees in compliance with employment standards and provincial regulations.
• Payroll Accounting & Reconciliation: Prepare and post payroll journal entries, reconcile payroll clearing accounts to the general ledger, and track variances to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
• System Scaling & Integration: Evaluate, refine, and adapt existing payroll workflows to smoothly accommodate an upcoming expansion.
• Systems Administration: Utilize and optimize payroll data inputs within ERP (Sage 300 ecosystem) and collaborative reporting tools.

Qualifications
•Experience: 3+ years of full-cycle payroll experience. Experience working within the mining, forestry, or heavy industrial sectors is an asset.
•Designation: A Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is an asset but not required.
•Technical Systems: Proficiency with payroll processing software and ERP platforms (Sage 300 experience is a strong asset).
•Core Competencies: Strong foundational understanding of accounting principles and general ledger entries.
•Soft Skills: A curious, proactive personality with the confidence to independently problem-solve, question inefficient processes, and build collaborative relationships with staff across multiple regional sites.
