Landscape Construction Crew Leader
Tree Amigos Landscaping has been a leader in landscape design, construction, and maintenance in the Niagara region since 2001. We are looking for an experienced crew leader to manage construction projects and drive continuous improvement in quality, safety, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Manage execution of landscape construction projects, including labor planning, equipment and material coordination, and project timelines.
- Set and maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards on job sites and at the yard.
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule daily work activities for a crew of 2–8 employees.
- Delegate job tasks to crew members and conduct on‑site orientations for new or repositioned employees, covering all health and safety policies.
- Operate and maintain a wide range of tools and equipment, including heavy equipment, chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, and measurement tools.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including inspections, lubrication, and cleaning.
- Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to plan and complete work activities.
- Complete and submit required daily paperwork such as site meeting logs, equipment inspection forms, and time‑and‑material billing summaries.
- Comply with all company policies, regulations, and local health and safety laws.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and yard areas.
- Train crew members on safe operating procedures and effectively communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the landscape or construction industry.
- Proficient in operating required equipment and tools safely and responsibly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent time‑management and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape designs and specifications.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment used in landscape construction.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Comfortable using a smartphone or other data‑enabled device for communication and reporting.
Work Conditions
- Use of hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and various materials.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs repeatedly throughout an entire shift.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment with high stamina requirements.
- Regular exposure to heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Outdoor work under diverse weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold.
Pay
$30–$40 per hour (or higher depending on experience).
