Skye Avenue Kitchen & Lounge is a new premium dining and entertainment concept in the heart of Surrey’s rapidly expanding business district. Our highly designed venue features the 5th largest whisky collection in the world , private dining, two chef’s tables, a main bar, private whisky & cognac lounge and patio.

Our culinary and beverage programs are built around fine-dining techniques, fresh local ingredients, innovative mixology and molecular gastronomy , creating an environment where talented hospitality professionals can learn, innovate and grow.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Bartender to join our bar team and help deliver an exceptional beverage and hospitality experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bartender is responsible for delivering outstanding beverage quality and service while supporting the overall bar and floor operations.

The successful candidate will have a strong passion for cocktails, spirits and hospitality, with an interest in continuing to develop their knowledge of whisky, cognac, mixology and innovative beverage techniques .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and serve cocktails, spirits, wine, beer and other beverages to established standards
• Deliver professional, knowledgeable and engaging service to every guest
• Demonstrate detailed knowledge of cocktails, spirits, whisky, cognac, wine and other beverage offerings
• Provide thoughtful beverage recommendations based on guest preferences
• Maintain a clean, organized and fully stocked bar throughout service
• Complete daily bar preparation, opening and closing procedures
• Follow proper FIFO practices and stock rotation
• Monitor inventory and minimize waste, spillage and product loss
• Ensure all beverages are prepared consistently and presented to Skye Avenue standards
• Work closely with bartenders, servers, kitchen and management to ensure smooth service
• Monitor the bar and storage areas and report equipment, maintenance or inventory issues
• Stay informed about menu changes, new products, promotions and operational procedures
• Maintain a professional and composed demeanor during high-volume service
• Engage directly with guests and create memorable hospitality experiences
• Follow all food safety, liquor service, workplace safety and statutory requirements
• Ensure equipment, glassware, furnishings and supplies are handled properly
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the Bar Manager, Bartenders or Assistant Mixologist

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Previous bartending experience in a high-end restaurant, hotel, lounge, cocktail bar or hospitality environment is required
• Strong hands-on cocktail and bartending experience
• Valid Serving It Right and FoodSafe certificates
• Formal mixology training or certification is an asset
• Strong knowledge of spirits, cocktails, whisky and beverage service
• Passion for learning and developing advanced mixology skills
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Additional language skills are an asset
• Strong guest-service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to make informed food and beverage recommendations, including awareness of dietary sensitivities and allergies
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Knowledge of Surrey and surrounding areas, including local hotels, businesses, amenities and attractions, is an asset
• Ability to stand for extended periods, reach, bend and stoop repeatedly, and lift and carry up to 44 pounds
