Located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, The Maples is a 100‑unit retirement residence and a vibrant hub within the Mt. Cameron community that offers a wide range of both independent and supportive living arrangements throughout the Antigonish Community. More than a place to live, The Maples offers residents an engaging and active lifestyle through a range of social, wellness, and recreational programming. From fitness classes and golf simulator leagues to pub nights and community events, The Maples is committed to fostering connection, independence, and quality of life for its residents.
On their behalf, we are seeking a dynamic and hands‑on leader to oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the residence, including team leadership, financial performance, and the overall resident experience. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, drive operational excellence, and ensure a high standard of hospitality and care across all aspects of the community. This role plays a key part in fostering a vibrant, community‑focused environment while balancing resident satisfaction, staff development, and strong business performance.
What You’ll be Doing:
In this role, you’ll translate strategy into action, ensuring The Maples continues to deliver an exceptional living experience for residents while operating efficiently and sustainably. As a visible leader within the residence, you’ll build strong relationships with residents, families, employees, and community partners, fostering a culture of service, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a team of approximately 35 employees, supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement.
- Overseeing the delivery of resident services across all departments, including dining, housekeeping, maintenance, recreation, wellness, and administration.
- Managing operating and capital budgets, monitoring occupancy and revenue, and supporting the long‑term financial health of the residence.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, organizational policies, and health and safety requirements.
- Championing initiatives that enhance the resident experience, improve operational effectiveness, and support occupancy and retention goals.
- Building and maintaining relationships with residents, families, healthcare providers, community partners, vendors, and referral sources.
- Promoting a safe, secure, and welcoming environment through effective risk management, emergency preparedness, and operational oversight.
What You’ll Bring:
- Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Healthcare Administration, Recreation Management, or a related field
- Experience managing a retirement residence, seniors housing community, hospitality property, healthcare facility, or similar operation.
- Proven experience leading teams with the ability to lead by example and mentor employees.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, financial performance, and operational outcomes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Solid financial and business acumen with an eager work ethic and a results‑oriented mindset.
- A customer service and hospitality‑focused approach to leadership.
- Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Ability to foster community engagement and deliver a high‑quality resident experience.
