Casual Corporate Administrative Assistant

Job Responsibility: General Information:

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for a casual Corporate Administrative Assistant opportunity in the Legislative Services Division within the Corporate Services Department. Reporting to the Office Coordinator in the Legislative Services Division of the Corporate Services Department and with work assigned and supervised by the department-designated supervisor, the Corporate Administrative Assistant provides exceptional and professional customer service and administrative services in support of CVRD operations. This position will be assigned to work as needed in all areas of the main CVRD office including Land Use Services, Operations, Strategic Services, and Corporate Services.

Qualifications:

• Secondary school graduation plus completion of a minimum 6 month certificate in office administration or business administration from a recognized post-secondary educational institution
• Four (4) years of related experience in an administrative support role.
• Experience in local government is considered an asset
• Class 5 BC Driver's License
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Due to the nature of the work the work schedule will be coordinated to meet the operational needs of the head office and may include shifts in blocks of time for planned absences or shifts on short-notice for unplanned absences. Candidates must be available to work a flexible variety of shifts, primarily days, but may include evenings and weekends. Salary: Wage rate in 3 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358, $32.49 - $33.47- $34.47 per hour ( rates), plus an additional 14.5% pay in lieu of vacation, benefits and statutory holidays.
