Emergency Communications Specialist Burlington

Serve the Burlington community as an Emergency Communications Specialist, facilitating critical police, fire, and ambulance responses. Master emergency protocols and computer systems while managing various communication channels. This role is vital for ensuring effective emergency response. You will handle emergency and non-emergency calls, utilizing the computer-aided dispatch system to direct services appropriately. Communication is key, as you will monitor radio traffic, and relay vital information among agencies while maintaining confidentiality. Key Responsibilities:

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls promptly
• Use CAD to determine necessary actions
• Monitor status of police, fire, and ambulance units
• Train new personnel in dispatch procedures
• Record and maintain computerized call summaries

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Pass written and typing examinations
• Obtain VCIC and NCIC certifications
• Knowledge of Burlington area's street system
• Willingness to work variable shifts and overtime
