Overview:

Reporting to the Creative Director, the Senior Graphic Designer collaborates with the copywriter and photographer to create and execute content that fulfills the requirements of the creative brief. He/she ensures all creative work adheres to the Lee Valley Brand Guidelines and acts as Art Director to oversee all aspects of content creation to meet the requirements of the Creative Brief. The incumbent will work primarily in a computerized environment, using Adobe Creative Suite to create content.

Key Responsibilities:

• Applies specialized knowledge of design, marketing and technical skills to create artwork for printed materials and digital media
• Work closely with writers and photographers to achieve the optimum presentation that highlights the desired features of the creative brief.
• Art Directs photoshoots. Works with the photography team to determine props and styling to represent effectively the desired direction of the creative brief.
• Actively participates in the conceptual development of content which meets the Creative Brief outlines and reviews with stakeholders for feedback and approval
• Liaises with the Creative Director to ensure conformance with Lee Valley Brand standards for look, feel, voice and overall presentation
• Required to work with creative team from concept to delivery within established timelines.

Knowledge and Skills:

• 3-4 year university degree or college diploma in Graphic Design/Marketing, advance knowledge of Creative Suite.
• 8-10 years related experience
• Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photo Shop and Bridge software is required
• Knowledge and experience in print layout
• Knowledge of packaging design
• Knowledge of MS Office is required
• Art direction skills required
• Experience art directing photographers to ensure optimal product presentation
• Diplomacy and leadership in presenting concepts to various stakeholder teams, communicating the ideas behind designs and helping secure quick approvals for final designs
• Woodworking and gardening knowledge an asset
• Bilingual (English and French) is an asset
