G roundskeeper – Landscape Gardener (Seasonal)

Term: Full-Time Seasonal (June to September)

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Medicine Hat Public School Division is seeking a motivated and reliable Groundskeeper – Landscape Gardener to support the maintenance and enhancement of landscaped areas across division locations and Medicine Hat College. This seasonal position runs from June through mid- to late September and is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and take pride in maintaining attractive green spaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Planting, pruning, and maintaining shrubs, flower beds, and landscaped areas
• Weeding, debris removal, and general grounds upkeep
• Assisting with seasonal landscaping projects
• Always ensuring safe and efficient work practices

Qualifications and Experience

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate:

• Knowledge of landscaping techniques and plant maintenance
• Familiarity with safe work practices
• Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks
• A high school diploma or equivalent

A valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record is required. Successful applicants must provide a Police Information Check and Driver's Abstract prior to employment.

Work Environment

This role is physically demanding and performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. Duties include lifting, bending, digging, and extended periods of standing.

Availability Requirement

Due to the short-term nature of this seasonal position, preference will be given to candidates who are available to work throughout the full term with minimal planned absences. This role may offer the opportunity for recurring seasonal employment in future years.
