Senior Interior Designer Location: Vancouver, BC (In-Office, Hybrid after 3 months) About We are hiring for a leading Vancouver-based interior design studio known for creating bold, bespoke concepts that draw inspiration from global culture, art, and fashion. With projects spanning luxury residential, hospitality, and multi-family sectors, we are recognized for our visual excellence, craftsmanship, and ability to deliver design at the highest level. The Role Were seeking a Senior Interior Designer to join our studio and lead projects from vision through execution. This role reports to both the Project Lead and Creative Director, requiring a balance of creative leadership, technical expertise, and client management. The Senior Designer will take ownership of project delivery across multiple sectors, mentor the design team, and ensure the highest standard of design intent and execution. Key Responsibilities - Lead design concepts & narrative: Create bold, bespoke design concepts aligned with our philosophy.
- Own client relationships: Manage client meetings, present concepts and mood boards, and guide expectations on scope, budget, and timelines.
- Project delivery: Lead residential, hospitality, and multi-family projects end-to-end, ensuring alignment with client, brand, and developer standards.
- Documentation quality: Produce and review drawing sets, redline junior work, enforce CAD standards, ensure code compliance, and draft drawing packages in AutoCAD as required.
- Consultant & stakeholder coordination: Manage cross-disciplinary consultants and stakeholders (LLDs, developers, brand reps), resolving conflicts and maintaining relationships.
- FF&E & materials: Source and curate selections, balancing creativity with durability, lead times, and budget.
- Permitting & compliance: Apply BC Building Code standards and work with permitting authorities.
- Visualization & communication: Direct workflows in SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and presentation development for both internal reviews and client-facing deliverables.
- Construction administration: Conduct site reviews, respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and maintain design integrity during construction.
- Budget & schedule stewardship: Develop procurement strategies, sequence deliverables, and maintain alignment with budgets and schedules.
- Team leadership & mentorship: Guide, delegate, and coach junior and intermediate designers, fostering a collaborative and creative culture.
- Vendor & community engagement: Maintain vendor relationships
Skills & Experience - 7+ years of professional interior design experience across residential, hospitality, and multi-family projects (Vancouver-based preferred).
- Degree or diploma in Interior Design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), and MS Office.
- Strong knowledge of BC Building Code.
- Proven track record of leading projects through all phases.
- Demonstrated experience leading design teams and managing the overall creative process.
- Professional, polished, and confident in client-facing presentations.
- Advanced documentation and drawing package expertise.
- Strong design sensibility with the ability to balance bold creativity and buildability.
- Budget and schedule management skills.
- Established FF&E/vendor sourcing experience.
- Leadership and mentorship experience.
- Preferred: Experience at Vancouver design studios with a focus on luxury single-family, hospitality, and multi-family projects.
Compensation & Benefits - Base Salary: $80,000 $110,000 (room for negotiation based on experience).
- Bonus/Commission: Structure to be determined if required.
- Benefits: Medical after 3 months; dental and extended flex program (tiered).
