At Payzant Building Products, our Gatehouse Associates play a vital role in creating a safe, secure, and exceptional customer experience. As the first point of contact entering the yard and the last person customers see before they leave, you'll help ensure every visit is efficient, accurate, and friendly.

What You'll Do

• Greet customers with a friendly, professional attitude and direct them to the appropriate area.
• Fill propane tanks for cutomers.
• Monitor vehicle traffic entering and leaving the lumber yard to maintain a safe and organized environment.
• Verify outgoing customer orders for accuracy, identify loading errors, and help prevent product loss.
• Answer customer inquiries in person and over the phone promptly and professionally.
• Create special orders accurately and efficiently.
• Assist customers by checking product availability, inventory levels, and stock at other store locations and the distribution and fulfillment centers.
• Stay informed on current promotions and products to better assist customers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free gatehouse and surrounding work area.
• Support the team by building seasonal product such as BBQs, Wheelbarrows, lawn furniture etc.
• Communicate effectively with yard staff, drivers, sales associates, and management to ensure smooth operations.
• Deliver outstanding customer service by resolving concerns quickly and professionally.

What We're Looking For

• A positive, outgoing personality with a genuine passion for customer service.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of building materials is considered an asset (training provided for the right candidate).
• Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn inventory and point-of-sale systems.
