Our GO Expansion Project Delivery Office is looking for a Project Coordinator. The role will coordinate the track civil signaling and stations work on the railway corridor for the Kitchener Corridor Extensions project(s ) as assigned.

Under the supervision of the Manager the Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and providing regular updates reports on the day-to-day activities of the project or specific component of the project including the design and construction of assigned physical infrastructure projects in a safe timely consistent and cost-effective manner.

Start Rate (Non-negotiable): $52.20 per hour

What Will I Be Doing

• Oversee the project work of consultants contractors and third parties to ensure compliance with Metrolinxs Engineering Standards Building Code and Site Plan Control Requirements and internal user group requirements through all project stages such as the preparation of environmental assessment documents design proposals and reports accessibility reports contract specifications and drawings and construction administration.
• Plan track and report all capital project expenditures such as contractor invoicing consultant fees and addenda purchase orders construction contracts change orders.
• Prepare and submit tender document specifications for construction and consultant contracts for submission to the Procurement Team for tendering. Assists Procurement Team during tendering by providing information to contractors and consultants.
• Coordinate projects to minimize customer impacts ensure all internal and external approvals are obtained and that design and cost dispute resolution and timely completion within established budget and schedule restrictions are adhered to.
• Participation with on site construction meetings site reviews and safety and environmental compliance. Identifying project constraints such as property requirements utility conflicts and other third-party requirements.
• Participate and ensure compliance with contract document management. Assists the Project management officein ongoing risk reviews and schedule management.
• Coordinate project changes through the applicable governance processes including the preparation of memos and other required documentation.
• Ensure project completion and commissioning for handover to user group.
• Prepare performance evaluation for consultants and contractors. Also prepare project post evaluation reports including project cost analysis.
• Prepare reports logs and presentations to various stakeholders and the management team on a regular basis working collaboratively to meet internal and externalstakeholder requirements.
• Oversee engineering and architectural consultant services for infrastructure projects for new construction and alterations to existing fixed facilities.
• Coordinate engineering projects with external agencies including the Railways to ensure compliance with legislation codes and the requirements of governing/regulatory authorities including the incorporation of external agency work within GO Engineering Projects.

What Skills & Qualifications Do I Need

• A college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education training and experience providing a thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of engineering/architecture.
• Minimum five (5) years experience related to the planning design and construction of transit facilities interpreting and applying contract plans and specifications and coordinating contracted engineering projects.
• Knowledge of the theory principles and practices of civil engineering architecture and heavy railway track and signals design/construction.
• Detailed knowledge of project management including cost control scheduling codes standards specifications corporate procedures and applicable contract legislation.
• Understanding of Railway Rules and Regulations and Safety & Operating procedures.
• Excellent communication interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work independently and think analytically.
• Proficiency in the use of project management software and computer applications is essential.
• Occasional site visits are required during the design stage. During construction regular site visits are required up to several times a week during regular working hours as well as during evenings weekends and/or holidays based on contract requirements.
• A valid Ontario G Drivers Licence is required for regular site visits. A Drivers Abstract (within the last 3 Years) will be required of the successful candidate.
• Site visits may involve exposure to different levels of construction at stations parking lots platforms and railway corridors along with climbing ladders and scaffolding and exposure to inclement weather.
