Overview of Role
This role requires an experienced senior corporate banking leader with a deep understanding of trading product structures. Responsibilities include managing Commodities and Diversified Products, providing innovative solutions to clients and internal partners.
Responsibilities
- Member of the GMCB leadership team and key contributor to Global Markets.
- Coordinate and collaborate with line of business partners to drive growth plans.
- Execute strategic initiatives to achieve business and financial goals.
- Build new businesses and initiatives in global jurisdictions.
- Integrate new trading products into the bank’s risk framework.
- Serve as a client‑centered team role model.
- Provide insights and recommendations through data analysis.
- Identify risks, gaps and process improvements.
- Monitor productivity against benchmarks and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders and key business partners.
- Lead, mentor and develop a cross‑border team.
- Liaise with regulators as applicable.
- Other accountabilities as assigned.
Product Knowledge
- Precious and base metals industry – transactional structures, inventory financing, trading, prepayments, leases, consignments.
- Carbon market – project development, inventory financing, derivative trading; understanding of various jurisdictions.
- Oil and gas markets – client security structures, financial and physical trading, inventory financing.
- Broad understanding of trading products for diversified clients.
People Management
- Manage a diverse cross‑border team across grade levels.
- Lead the team to deliver business results.
- Influence and gain support from other bank areas.
- Attract, retain and develop top talent.
- Coach and develop employees, manage under‑performance.
Strategic Focus
- Collaborate with sector coverage partners to generate ideas and deliver solutions.
- Recommend business priorities and resource requirements.
- Leverage relationships across lines of business and external clients.
- Monitor industry and regulatory changes impacting portfolio.
- Act as trusted advisor to Global Head of Global Markets Corporate Banking.
- Identify emerging issues and trends.
- Create solutions for complex problems.
- Communicate abstract concepts simply.
Risk Management
- Experience with high signing authority and senior specialist roles.
- Understand complexity of transactions; review and assess risks.
- Balance risk appetite with client & business needs.
- Ensure adherence to policies and guidelines; initiate amendments.
- Maintain robust systems, reporting, and controls.
- Ensure risk management and compliance reports are accurate.
- Incorporate risk and compliance into daily accountabilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of experience in corporate banking global markets sector.
- MBA or equivalent financial services experience with focus on credit, risk, and sales.
- Credit qualification.
- Change management and leadership experience in a global business.
- Business development excellence with cross‑selling skills.
- Results‑oriented, able to identify opportunities and handle multiple priorities.
- Conceptual thinking and practical solution transformation.
- Strong written and oral communication.

Salary
Base salary: $225,000 CAD.
Pay type: Salaried.
