Position: Temporary Part-Time Security Guard

Site: Queen's University Libraries (Patrol) - 101 Union St

Hours: Sat -1630-2215 & Sun- 1730-0015

Overtime Method: Ontario ESA

Payrate: $21.01

Job Description:

• Greet and interact with staff, students, and visitors politely and professionally
• Ensure all staff, visitors, and vendors are following the protocols for Queens University
• Provide assistance as necessary to staff and students
• Assist visitors as necessary with wayfinding as required
• Proactive, consistent patrols of the campus
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with maintaining the utmost professionalism
• Strong interpersonal skills, flexible, and customer service orientation 
• Remain calm and effectively perform in emergency situations
• Able to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
• Report writing and note taking
• Surveillance monitoring 
• Additional job duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements: 

1. Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
2. Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
3. Proof of (minimum) double COVID-19 vaccination
4. A copy of your immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella [MMR], Varicella, and TB Skin Tests - Step 1 & 2)
5. Proficient in English (both oral and written)
6. Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset
7. 6+ months in customer service
8. Previous security experience is preferred
9. Must be able to commit to the position for 6 months
10. Must have Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) and Use of Force Certification (UOF)
11. • Paladin Security will pay for MOAB and UOF certification on a commitment contract (minimum six (6) months. 
    • Upon Hiring: Must be able to attend four (4) days of MOAB and UOF Certification class during the week.
