Line Cook - Dockside Dining Hall

We are seeking a Short-Order/Grill Cook to join the celebrated SMU Dining Services team at Saint Mary's University! Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Line Cook is responsible for the preparation and production of all menu items on the grill station at St. Mary's University's Dockside Dining Hall. 

Job Responsibilities

• Preps and cooks food in accordance with the menu, using grills, fryers, and ovens
• May support front line team in serving customers
• Assures quality, courteous customer service is provided to all customers
• Maintains continual cleaning and sanitizing of work area
• Assists with culinary auditing, temperature checking of food items within kitchen, stations, fridge’s and freezers
• Ensure adherence to Aramark and St. Mary's University policies and procedures
• Shall attend all safety meetings and participate in Client and/or Aramark Emergency Response Procedures
• Additional duties may be assigned

Qualifications

• 1+ years short order cook/grill cook experience
• Experience with large quantity batch cooking an asset
• Working towards Journeyman or Red Seal Certification in the Cook trade or equivalent considered an asset
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset
• Must be able to work effectively and efficiently, supervised and unsupervised
• Must be able to lift, push, pull minimum 25lbs
  

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
