Vice President, Land Development & Municipal Engineering – Western Canada

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, LDME , this executive role is accountable for strategic growth, operational excellence, financial performance, and people leadership — advancing WSP’s long‑term vision while building a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

Your Impact

  • Set Direction: Define and communicate a clear regional vision, strategy, operating plan, budgets, and performance targets aligned with WSP’s strategic priorities.
  • Drive Performance: Lead operational excellence across disciplines, optimizing project margins, workforce utilization, cash generation, and DSO.
  • Enable Growth: Champion business development across Western Canada, expanding market presence and ensuring investments deliver strong strategic and financial returns.
  • Strengthen Relationships: Build trusted partnerships with key municipal, provincial, federal, and private‑sector clients, industry partners, and stakeholders.
  • Deliver Excellence: Guide leaders in achieving consistent project delivery excellence through disciplined project reviews and risk management.
  • Govern with Confidence: Partner with finance leadership to forecast performance, ensure accurate revenue recognition, and deliver reliable financial results.
  • Develop Leaders: Build, coach, and inspire senior leaders and teams, fostering a high‑performance culture with strong engagement and low voluntary turnover.
  • Champion Values: Promote WSP’s safety, ethics, and compliance programs as foundational to how work gets done.
  • Maintain Boots‑on‑the‑Ground Leadership: Invest significant time in client‑facing engagement across the region to strengthen relationships, maintain deep awareness of key accounts, and ensure WSP remains close to client priorities and opportunities.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Executive Leadership: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven Experience: Minimum 15 years of senior leadership experience in engineering, infrastructure, or a related professional services environment.
  • Strategic Mindset: Demonstrated ability to identify growth opportunities, assess market trends, and make balanced, informed decisions.
  • Business Development Strength: Strong track record growing business with public‑ and private‑sector clients across complex stakeholder environments.
  • People Leadership: Advanced capability leading large, matrixed organizations, influencing indirectly, and aligning teams around shared outcomes.
  • Commercial Acumen: Experience defining contracting strategies, managing risk, and negotiating commercial terms to protect value.
  • Credibility & Integrity: Highly respected leader with strong communication skills and uncompromising professional integrity.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel approximately 20% across Western Canada , with additional national and occasional international travel.

Compensation

Starting salary is $195,980 per year.
